Sulwhasoo, the premium skincare and cosmetics brand from Korea, has just introduced its limited edition of cushion foundation in a palette that showcases the work of modern artist Ji Yeon Hong.

Every year Sulwhasoo collaborates with Korean artists to create limited edition products infused with tradition and modernity. For the 2017 limited edition, Sulwhasoo is proud to showcase the “Golden Bird”, a symbol of luck and happiness.

Ji Yeon has created a pair of lively golden birds playing atop flowers in bloom, while a single red string connects the two together representing luck as it makes its first appearance in the warm sunny days of spring. Sunlight brightens the world and awakens all living things. The Golden Bird, with its beautiful golden feathers, has been a symbol of fortune for many generations. Delivering peace to families and bringing old friends together, the treasured bird sings a song of luck and happiness in life.

Together, the bright yellow colour of the Golden Bird and the red string symbolise undeniable fate, recreating the Sulwhasoo “Perfecting Cushion” (Bt2,000) and “Perfecting Cushion Brightening” (Bt2,100) as valuable pieces of art.

Ji Yeon says her work mainly deals with modern stories captured in a frame of the past. “I create my own series by infusing my personal story or by illustrating current issues of the society into a familiar past art scheme such as folk and genre painting. I purposely and ambiguously place my work in-between traditional past and present day (time) and in-between oriental and western trait (space).”

“Perfect Cushion Brightening” has Pearlescent Complex extracted from the nurturing power of mother-of-pearl, which helps give the skin a translucent radiance with light-reflecting properties. It also contains a firming gel that creates a delicate network to absorb excessive sebum and oil and keeps your skin looking smooth and flawless without sticking.

“Perfect Cushion” foundation includes not only a moisturising blend of apricot seed and Korean herbs to create a smooth glow and healthy supple texture but also covers spots and even wrinkles through a special watercolour method, which disperses color into water instead of oil.
