Japanese troupe Enra opened the event with a stunning dance and light show. That was followed by the screening of several Japanese series and talks by Tatsuya and Mirai.
“Sawasdi khrub, my name is Tatsuya. How are you?” the J-pop heartthrob greeted fans in Thai to appreciative screams. “You know, I’ve learnt Thai boxing. I started out by learning international-style boxing but changed to Thai boxing later as I found it required more skill.”
Tatsuya’s latest series is “Shikaku Tantei Higurashi Tabito” (“Virtual Detective Tabito Higurashi”). The story starts by focusing on the accident Higurashi had as a youngster, which caused him to loss all senses except for his sight. As a adult, he relies on his sight to solve various cases by observing other people’s feelings and clues left behind. Tatsuya plays Tsuruta Kamekichi, Higurashi's assistant at the detective agency. Despite being a warm-hearted person who cares a lot for his mother, his frivolous ways make him a somewhat mischievous troublemaker.
Actress Mirai greeted fans in Thai too. Her latest series is ‘Rental Kyuuseishu’ (‘Rental Saviour’), in which she plays a mysterious young woman who is saved by Akenabe Yugo, a nice guy with huge debts.
Mirai has been acting since childhood and says she that while she is used to playing characters older and younger than her, she would love to play someone of her own age. “I’d like to portray an office lady,” she says.
Singer and voice actress Teshima Aoi was next on stage to perform three songs then handed over the microphone to Japanese female rocker Rei.
Thai stars too graced the event, which celebrated the 130th anniversary of Thailand-Japan diplomatic relations, among them Neko Jump and actress Warutaya “Jui” Nilakhuha, winner of the Best Leading Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards for “Samee Tee Tra” at the Tokyo International Drama Festival.
