As a Celtic bard whose literary effusions have been absent from these pages for some time (does anybody remember my epic poem “The Thaksiad”?), I was heartened to learn that PM Prayut has written a poem about Thailand 4.0. Why hasn’t it been translated into English and published, with due fanfare, in The Nation? Those of us who do not read or write Thai fluently would like to get in on the fun.
The Nation ought to run a poetry
contest in which amateur rhymesters and sonneteers would be invited to
submit their poetic offerings on the topic Thailand 4.0. Here’s mine:
Now here’s to Thailand 4.0!
What does it mean? Does anyone know?
I’m sure that there’ll be lots of fun
If we ever get to 4.1.
And if anybody’s still alive,
We might even get to Thailand 5.
Lyrically,
Fonning Toaddy
