A FAVOURITE with some of the music industry’s best-known names and regularly flashed on stage and off by the likes of Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora, jewellery designer Carat London has now arrived in Bangkok.
Set up in 2003 by Englishman Scott Thompson, Carat is recognised for its ingenuity in combining modern materials with traditional styling to offer sophisticated and glamorous jewelled accessories including the sleek Millennium Quentin Bracelet collection that dazzles with fine stone detailing.
Prairpun Tumwattana, executive director of Retail Me, the importer of the British jewellery brand, recently hosted an afternoon tea party at the Playroom of the Oriental Residence Hotel to introduce the Sparta, Cesar and Talis collections.
The party was attended by several Thai celebrities with three of them also presenting the collections. Sikanya Sakdidech Bhanu-bandh showcased the Talis Working Woman collection, Ployvarin Songpakorn the Sparta Night Out concept, and Unawan Tungkara-wakun the Cesar for Tea Time.
The marque has grown rapidly over the past 14 years and was selected as the best British jewellery brand in recognition of the meticulous process of its diamond cutting. Today it has branches all over the world including in the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and now Thailand.
Prairpun says that the brand’s premium designs always enhance whatever look is chosen for day and night. The highlight of the Millennium collection is a design concept that focuses on beauty and luxury but in a classic way, both in terms of the colour selection and the straight-line and geometric shapes.
Sparta defines the modern tolerant woman and is inspired by the strength, confidence, ambition, and elegance of the Spartans of Ancient Greece. It features an edgy bracelet, choker, ring and earrings with water drop-shaped diamonds.
Cesar is inspired by the Laurel Wreath of the Grecian army commander and symbolises victory through diamonds in both marquise and flower wreath shapes.
Talis, meanwhile, plays with modern simplicity through emerald square-shaped diamonds in rings, bracelets, necklaces and dazzling earrings.
Sikanya told the party guests that she prefers jewellery with a modern and edgy design that suits her busy working life. “I particularly like jewellery that gives me confidence and that is both fashionable and elegant.”
Ployvarin said she selects jewellery to match her outfit for a more glamorous look. “For example, if I wear minimal outfit, I can go for outstanding design accessories. The collection I’m wearing today is in the shape of army weapons that look strong and enhance my total look.”
Young businesswoman Unawan added: “I like jewellery with a hint of femininity because it matches to my style. However, the design should also stand out.”
Prairpun also had some tips for wearing Carat gems.
“Carefully selected jewellery |can enhance every look and draw attention. Wearing a silver ring with a big gem in the middle on your index finger and a nice watch for the working day makes you look credible. For events at night, a set of rose gold accessories paired with a spaghetti-strap creates a mystic look. If you’re partying with friends, opt for distinctive design pieces to give you an edge.
The new collections can be found at Carat London’s stores at CentralWorld, and Central Plaza Lat Phrao.
