Truth 'trumped' by political correctness

SATURDAY, JULY 25, 2015

Donald Trump was recently vilified for his remarks about Mexican immigrants. While he may not have been 'politically correct' - PC - was he speaking the truth? Should his remarks be heeded in the interests of the US and its citizens? Does the US not need

In the UK, Nigel Farage, a man of commerce and work experience, is constantly derided and insulted by the professional politicians because he speaks the truth based on facts. He leads the United Kingdom Independence Party, UKIP. Involvement in a court of law in the UK as a witness necessitates a person swearing or affirming to tell the truth. That is exactly what UKIP wrote in their pre-election manifesto, but they were referred to as “a bunch of clowns” for saying immigration must be controlled, and dubbed racists.
Obesity in the UK currently costs the National Health Service, NHS, 250 million pounds a year. A journalist-celebrity, Katie Hopkins, publicly maintains that obese parents and their obese children should be told that they are “fat” and to eat less and exercise. Her opponents declare her inhuman, advocating kindness and respect, saying that stating the truth will harm people mentally.
Political correctness has become an irrational extreme.
What future awaits civilised society when PC subjugates the truth and common sense?
