Bitdefender (Thailand), which has announced a new anti-virus software suite for home use, expects to generate revenue growth of up to 50 per cent this year.

The company also plans to increase sales next year by adding service providers to its distribution channels.

The company has just introduced Bitdefender 2013, which comes with anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-theft and anti-spam functions, said Tosaporn Vasudhara, distribution channel manager of Bitdefender (Thailand).

Its direction next year will be to focus its customers in three main areas: home use, corporate and service provider.

It currently has two distributors, Rai Infotech and Ingram Micro, and also distributes its products via more than 1,000 Se-ed shops and B2S stores nationwide.

Bitdefender will also offer its products via the modern-trade channel in the near future.

"We are negotiating with service providers to offer our anti-virus products and services to customers, and expect the new channel will be official next year," Tosaporn said.

Michal Dominik, director of operations of Bitdefender, said today’s anti-virus software products not only manage security, but also more general issues relating to computers, as more companies require infrastructure to meet cloud and virtual security needs.

Moreover, users of mobile phones and tablets now use other operating systems and also need a security solution to protect their devices.

Tosaporn said Bitdefender’s Thai unit would also be a hub for distribution and management related to Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam. The company has a representative office in Vietnam and has appointed a distributor to take care of Myanmar and Cambodia.

The Thai company this year expects to generate growth of up to 50 per cent over last year’s revenue of about Bt20 million.

Some 70 per cent of revenue is from Bangkok sales, and the remainder from the upcountry market. Corporate business is expected to account for 60 per cent of the total, with the rest from the home-use market.

The company also hopes to become a top-three player in the anti-virus segment by year-end, Tosaporn said.

"I think the anti-virus market this year is highly competitive. Companies are not only engaging |in a price war, but also compete |on innovation and technology," |he added.
