Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin has visited the recently launched Covid-19 proactive screening centre at the sprawling Amata City Industrial Estate on the border of Rayong and Chonburi. Hundreds of companies operate at the estate, which is considered an industrial powerhouse in the Eastern Economic Corridor.

Amata Corporation Plc, operator of several industrial estates, has estimated that the company would sell only 10-15 new factories this year, while sales before the Covid-19 crisis were 30-50 factories per year, with the highest recorded sales being 102 factories.

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) has approved setting up two new industrial estates in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), expected to bring in over Bt70 billion investment and create nearly 20,000 jobs.
