The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Energy Absolute have signed a 160 million baht loan agreement to finance an electric ferry fleet for Bangkok, the first such transport system in Southeast Asia, the ADB announced in a press release on Wednesday.

Bangkok’s MINE Smart Ferry electric passenger boat service “Urban Line”, between Phra Nang Klao and Sathorn, has resumed services. Two new routes will be added to the service from December 20, namely "Metro Line" from Rama 7 Pier to Sathorn Pier and "City Line" from Pinklao Pier to Sathorn Pier.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday presided over the opening ceremony of the “Mine (Mission no emission) Smart Ferry” project, which features an electric ferry route in the Chao Phraya River and Thailand’s first smart pier at CAT Tower Pier in Bangkok’s Bangrak district, government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said.
