The draft submitted by iLaw to change the Constitution was rejected in Parliament on Wednesday after senators voted overwhelmingly to oppose it. Two charter-change drafts sponsored by government parties and the opposition were passed in the first reading.
The petition to rewrite the charter began in August while the Ratsadon group was established in October, revealed iLaw manager Yingcheep Atchanont, while calling on MPs and senators not to be suspicious about the intention to have a “normal political system”.
House Speaker Chuan Leekpai said on Wednesday morning that a Parliament meeting today would feature voting on amended constitution drafts as proposed by both the ruling coalition and the opposition.
